Studio Chatter Vol 4: NARA Product Review Video

Updated: Jan 13, 2022

Welcome back! I have been swamped in the studio recently testing new products and techniques (get ready, more videos will be coming!). If you're new here, I should probably share that my guilty pleasure in life is testing new art supplies. If that sounds like something you like as well, join my newsletter, where I can share all of my latest reviews and tutorials with you.

So let's dig in! I'm super excited to share a product review of NARA Synthetic Paper this month. If you're unfamiliar with NARA, they are a supplier of a wide range of synthetic paper for alcohol ink painting and alcohol ink-related products. NARA is a specialty paper that is best known for its 100% stain-free synthetic paper for alcohol ink painting. Recently, they started selling their own line of alcohol inks and canvas along with their journals, clocks, and coasters.

Check out all of their products here: NARA products.

Overview:

Alright, let's get to the juicy bits. NARA sent me four of their products to try:

NARA Swatch Cards were not available on their website, but it is the same thickness as the NARA Lite Paper.

NARA Lite Paper is a white synthetic non-staining paper for alcohol ink painting. It is the thinnest paper at 150 microns. Available in pre-cut rounds, hexagons, squares, rectangles, or customized in your desired shape and size (contact NARA directly for customization). It is available in packs of 10, 25, 50, 60, and 100 sheets and is priced between $4-60.

NARA Synethic Paper is available in various shapes, sizes, and weights. Available in pre-cut rounds, hexagons, squares, rectangles or customized in your desired shape and size (up to 60"). Purchase single sheets on their website or Amazon also sells packages (linked below). Priced $12-110. For reference, NARA sent me their 200 gsm weight paper in 12"x9."

NARA Canvas is a premium pre-primed canvas for alcohol ink and acrylic painting. The canvas is 100% stain-free and available in a 3ftx5m roll, priced at $100

I am the most excited about their canvas and plan to purchase a roll very soon.
