Studio Chatter Vol 2: A Product Review and Swatch Video of Metallic Alcohol Inks

Updated: Jan 13, 2022

Hey, there!

I'm back in the studio creating new video content and can I just say how excited I am to share this video with you! This topic is one I think has bugged everyone at some point, and it is the most asked question I receive:

"what metallic do you use?"

After years of sampling inks, I have finally found my favorites, but I have had to purchase quiet a few inks in the process. In this video, I swatch most of the metallic alcohol inks I've tried over the years so you can decide what ones will work best for you.

If you have been struggling to find the perfect metallic to use when painting with alcohol inks. Look no further, I have created THE resource for deciding which alcohol ink metallic you should purchase.

Check out the video below to see all of the metallic alcohol inks in action

In the video, I swatch the following metallic alcohol inks:

  • Jacquard Products Alcohol Ink Pinata Brass (1:41)

  • Jacquard Products Alcohol Ink Pinata Copper (4:33)

  • Let's Resin Rose Gold Metallic (11:00)

  • Ranger Ink Tim Holtz Rose Gold Mixative (12:46)

  • T-Rex Alcohol Ink Golden Hour (14:46)

  • Ranger Ink Tim Holtz Alloy Gilded (15:32)

  • Let's Resin Gold Metallic (18:33)

  • Marabu Alcohol Ink in Rainbow (21:09)

  • Molotow Liquid Chrome (23:17)

  • Ranger Ink Tim Holtz Alloy Foundry (24:55)

  • Ranger Ink Tim Holtz Alloy Sterling (26:06)

  • T-Rex Alcohol Ink Starlight Silver (27:43)

  • Brea Resse Liquid Metal Silver (28:56)

  • Let's Resin Silver Metallic (29:51)

Each metallic swatch is on medium weight yupo paper from Legion Brand using colored inks and isopropyl alcohol 91% to dilute and move the ink on the page.
